Since 1958 Pennine Radio Limited have won and subsequently maintained an enviable reputation
for the production of the finest quality products. The company (as our name suggests)
started by producing consumer electronics and soon expanded into the industrial
sector. In the early days we produced many innovative designs for the woollen industry which
surrounded Huddersfield. As an example, the very first all electronic device for detecting
the shortage of wool in a weaving shuttle (some of which travel at 70 miles per hour) was
perfected. The device was so popular with both the owners and operators of traditional
looms that the company soon found demand for them coming from many parts of the world.
The quality of finish, accuracy and reliability of our electronic products attracted
interest from other electronic and light engineering companies. Subsequently we started to
provide a number of these companies with the some of the more demanding components for
them to embody in their own production.
The addition of component manufacturing gave birth to the TRANSFORMER,
SHEET METALWORK and ELECTRONIC divisions of our company which continue to this day. Of course with all these "In House" facilities and expertise it was only a short
step before we started to offer complete "Sub-Contract" manufacture of a vast
array of different products for all sorts of industrial and professional companies.

In 1978 we acquired our first general purpose computer and with it we started to do
Computer Aided Design "CAD" (of course nobody called it CAD in those days).
Within a few years we had a number of computers Networked
in a flexible efficient way
which was the envy of many of our customers and suppliers. Inevitably we were pressed to
provide advice, practical help, and support for their computer systems and the PRL
COMPUTER division was launched.
A few years ago we identified a
requirement for Golf Carts that fitted the U.K. and European market. We discovered that people wanted a cart that would fit in the boot of most cars, carry the rider for at least 18 holes on the
worst average course, and require the minimum of maintenance.
After
a long period of careful development we proudly announced the Pennine Driver.
More recently the range has been expanded with
the addition of the four wheel Pennine Fore a range of
accessories and trailers for both the Driver and the Fore.
